    question:

What is the best wood to build a deck with in Florida?
I want to build a 10' x 24' deck for my house. What would be the strongest and most affordable wood for this project? Also I live in Florida so it is very humid. Thank you!

    answer:

Nobody reads the question before responding. You are building a deck, and want to know the strongest wood. The framing of the deck (the posts, beams, floor joists) should be built using treated yellow pine (ACQ treated lumber). Everyone else here is giving you their opinion on the decking material to use. There are many choices of decking, but the strongest and most affordable is still treated deck boards (also ACQ treated yellow pine, in 5/4 x 6 inch eased edge boards). If you can afford to use a composite, that's fine.

You will spend 0 - 0 on the treated framework of you deck.
You will need 240 sq. ft. (44 each 12' pieces of 5/4x6 material) for your decking. This will range from 0 to ,400 (yes, ,400) depending on what type of decking you choose.

    question:

What is composite wood (WPC) ? is this durable, affordable and are they any suppliers in Singapore ?
I am thinking of having a decking in my garden and currently evaluating this new material. Any advice ?

    answer:

Wood-plastic composites (WPCs) are composite materials made of wood fiber/flour and thermoplastic(s) (includes PE, PP, PVC etc.).

Wood-plastic composites are still new materials relative to the long history of natural lumber as a building material. The most widespread use of WPCs in North America is in outdoor deck floors, but it is also used for railings, fences, landscaping timbers, cladding and siding, park benches, molding and trim, window and door frames, and indoor furniture.[2] Wood-plastic composites were first introduced into the decking market in the early 1990s. Manufacturers claim that wood-plastic composite is more environmentally friendly and requires less maintenance than the alternatives of solid wood treated with preservatives or solid wood of rot-resistant species.

    > it does not corrode
    >highly resistant to rot, decay,
    >have good workability
    >lack of need for paint
    >available in diffrent colors

    question:

What be the best, "affordable" way to record my electric guitar on my pc? And good software?
Hello. I would like to record my guitar in order to composed songs by making multiple guitar tracks and combining them together.

    So my questions:
    1. What is the best way to record the sound coming from my amp? Do I plug it directly into the computer, or do I use my USB Samson Condenser microphone? If so, where do I place it when recording?

    2. What is a good software like garageband on the Mac for recording on the pc? I heard that audacity is free, but what's something better than that for less than 0? Or is audacity all I need?

I would like to make the best studio quality music that I possible can with I've got. So all tips, help, and advice is greatly appreciated.

    P. S. I heard there are ways to record my guitar without needing amp, if so, how? Do I need a mixer, or a Line 6 Pod to do that?

    THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!

    answer:

    Okay then.

A lot of it can be trail and error, doing your research first and product comparison and becoming familiar with either audio interfacing or component audio recording as decks, mixers, microphones, headphones and phantom amplifications.

And, how much time, money and patience you have to dedicate this area of activity for the best results possible.

Basics can start with the variety of audio interface, circuit converters. These have the simpler set up systems and software program that many provide through home PCs and laptop situations. It involves cable hook ups between the PC and the audio source (inputting) as a guitar or other audio output media as decks, an electric guitar, microphone or even a turntable, according to what they are designed for.

Those are the least expensive route to take as well. And each brand either have parameters of software of their own to incorporate operation, needed for downloading any further engines or additional 'updates' and/or compatible with other makes of audio conversion software, or mixing and effects programs. Sometimes, even unwanted data and advertising for 'future' updates and changes.

To say, there comes a time when this can be successful for out of the box and first timers, or being a 50-50 proposition, or... not being compatible at all with your OS that is already in your PC, when it comes to burning CDs.

And it is most important having audio interfacing, any software aids and mixing programs to go along (being compatible) with your particular operating system as having the Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP or earlier OS settings.

There are free downloads a plenty, but not to say they are real guarantees that things will go well, but there are some success stories, others not so good.

It can get costly and soon take up space as items can be added on to achieve the level of efficiency and quality of recording and playback of material. To what you may expect or as you want to improve upon the results and/or the ease of operations. Lots to learn when it can come to even cables and circuit pathway routing. Even a simple switch of a few wires can send anyone into a panic when not realizing a wrong connection has been made.

That is why when one is into recording medias over the years, it comes down to having the better (separate recording devices, decks, mixers, amps and receivers, etc.) components that not only provide better results but prepared to take on other audio inputting concerns and expansion of an eventual studio as the years go by.

All depends what you expect in the beginning... and how far you are willing to go both financially, issues of specialized components and dedicated space for all the equipment needs for more professional results if not easy sailing during those recording sessions you intend to enjoy.

And bring good results due to your efforts.

And yes, you can record without the amp through several (inexpensive) audio interfacing devices on the market. Otherwise, it (just the PC's audio input line) will be treated as any microphone, audio inputting but dependent upon any effects or tonal changes through the PC conversions and the software and OS you are using to enhance the barefoot signal. If at all, and if there is a signal being picked up.

    question:

What is a good program for recording radio shows?
Im doing a radio story for an English project. Similar to the ones kids listened to on those large radios before television came in. It is a scripted story like "The Lone Ranger". I have a voice cast mostly set up along with a script. I have a laptop with Sony Vegas Movie Studio 10 and a built-in mic. I guess I could use this but I'd rather use something specially built for radio shows. Have any in mind? I won;t need more than around 2-3 weeks to do this and I don't really wanna purchase anything. Have anything in mind?

Also, I should probably get an actual microphone, or perhaps several since some scenes involve several characters talking to each other. Most of the time it is two characters. Or do I need to get a stand-alone mic at all? Will my built-in one good enough? In any case, which is the best kind of mic to get for my project considering affordability and effectiveness?

I also have several sound effects in the story. If you know anything about that that can help me let me know please. I only know of sounddogs.

    answer:

There isn't anything specially made for recording any specific type of material.
    Any general-purpose recorder will work.

I would use at least one good microphone (Audio-Technica and Shure
offer good models starting at about ) and a standalone recorder.

A stereo cassette deck with mic inputs would be a good choice,
as would a Sangean DAR-101, which is an affordable portable MP3 recorder.

At its best-quality setting of 192kbps (which I strongly recommend using),
the DAR-101 will store over 10 hours per GB (45 hours or so for 4GB) on an SDHC.

The one problem with this model is that it doesn't allow editing within recordings,
so you'd have to do that some other way.
I've done it by copying selected portions of recordings to other media:
CD, DAT, MiniDisc, and even old-fashioned audio cassettes.

It would be best to use a separate mic for the sound effects
so that they would be picked up properly.

Most old-fashioned radio shows were recorded with only two or three mics.
Except for sound effects, one mic was usually enough.
The actors stood around it, holding their scripts,
and often quietly dropped the pages on the floor when they were no longer needed.

Only if the cast was fairly large, or isolation was required
(such as when there was a simulated telephone call,
generally using a restricted frequency range for one mic)
would there have been a reason to use two or more mics for the actors.

It's difficult to find decent general-purpose omnidirectional mics
at affordable prices these days, so you may have to use a cardioid mic
pointed straight up, and have everyone talk across the top of it.

In any event, a cardioid (or maybe even a hypercardioid) mic
would probably be the best choice for sound effects.

    question:

deck lost paint what filler can I use to make it all one level?
The deck (upper boat deck) of my ship which is metal has lost paint due to being walked on. What can robust material can I put down to bring the surface up to the surrounding "years" of paint as just pouring paint it has not worked in the past. Thanks

    answer:

Is the paint being worn off by walking on it or is it chipping and coming up in sections??

If its still intact and bonded to the metal, Try a good marine topcoat paint with a non-slip grit in it. The non-slip grit will build up the area and will keep you from sliding around. There are different grit sizes from ones small enough to sit on with bare skin to ones that will give road rash through blue jeans.

If its coming up in sections or chipping, leaving exposed metal then the best thing is strip the whole deck and replace the paint. Make sure to use a primer for the type of metal you have, either aluminum or steel.

Try West Marine, although they don't have the best prices sometimes, they have a pretty good selection and online help/selection guides to help pick which paint is best/affordable for you. westmarine.com

    question:

I want to start skating, tips and help?
So I thought I wanted to do this last year some time and made a big mistake of buying a complete board from...ARGOS. Yeah well my knowledge on that has grown a little since then. So because that board was so awful it put me off.
But now I have a job I'm in the midst of buying all parts to make my own.
Thing is it's not so much the things I'm buying it's more the 'social and personal' side to skating. Probably sounds a little odd I know. But I can't exactly skate everyday because I would hate to skate by myself, I live in an area where there are no places good enough to skate, all loose gravel etc. - At least not for a beginner.
Aside from this I do actually need some advice when it comes to spending my money because my lord it's pricey out there. I don't want to be spending all this money and waste my time.
So FYI I live in the North of England so Summer is extremely short! Can you skate in the rain and cold?

So far this is all I've sorted out:
My deck and it's free grip tape x) :
    http://www.tractionkitesuk.com/images/fracture%20cans%20deck%20TKUK.jpg
It's a 7.5 width so that's good for my feet and height.
But I'm really un-educated about bearings and trucks and all this shocktape wheel thing.
I'm not really into the idea of cruisers, don't really see the point.
To sound like a complete nonce in a few months - in the summer - I see myself performing tricks and being able to join some friends who skate at skate parks without being scared of falling or anything like that (mmm, I'll need to conquer some fears with this).
    Any tips?
    Any help?
I wont be able to skate everyday, I'm in sixth form and I have a weekend job.

    answer:

Yeah thats the thing about buying completes.. Its like half & half ,you get like the main part you kinda like and the rest ofthe components are just whack ,or no good..Skateshops usually built completes according to the quality & price of the products they use and brands that they are usually overstocked on , or can't sell individually.. They use those parts to built them .so These completes usually are constructed out of cheap or low quality products and components..Thats why usually one can get a good deal on it , they sale at a low price to catch peoples attention.. Most get fooled . As those completes are usually assembled for people who don't know much about brands, and quality products..etc .etc opps i writing to much on this.

Yeah customizing or buying every part seperately and buliding it yourself is better That way you buy quality parts and use the brands you like and know...The only thing it might be more expensive this way ,but i say its worth it on the long wrong. You get what you want..

If you are seroius and really like skateboarding than you are gonna do it regardless if you have somebody to skate with or you skate by yourself.. Its fun and all to skate with buddies cause yall can encourage each other and help each other out i guess. But skateboarding is really a individual sport.. In the way that itsjust you and your board. Only you and it can make the difference &deciding factor on how much you progress and learn.. So in the end you really don't need anybody. Friends are just extra.. You can find& meet them later.etc. Hm your gonna have to find a smooth surface somewhere and practice and practice as much as you can if you wanna improve.
Put some music on your ears and practice .. I live in The west coast of the US so weather is cool here..
And No don't skate on the rain, it will mess up that deck or wood part of the skateboard and will rust the hardware and bearings which wouldn't be good.. Most of all its dangerous to skate on rain. To slippery etc. skating in the cold is possible but damm it hurts so much more when you fall.
Ok good wheel brands are :: Bones , Ricta , Autobahn , Spitfire..These are the top 4 brands outhere.. Good size for streetanywhere from 51mm-54mm.. Go Hard on the material

For bearings best brand is probably " Bones " they have different versions .. Bones reds are fine affordable to..

Good trucks brands are:: Ventures , Independents, Thunder, Royals ,Destructo.. Lows is what you wanna get if you plan to skate mostly street and concrete parks.. Make sure you get proper size .. If you gonna get a 7.75"width board than129 s are fine.. 129s are even ok for 8" boards. If you get anything bigger than 8" ,like 8.25",8.5" than 139s would be the proper truck size.etc

Yeah conquer your fears and dont be affraid if you wanna improve in skateboarding .. Practice alot and have fun. etc ..

    question:

what are good deck archetypes in yugioh?
i am looking for something a little unorthodox, and affordable

    answer:

Like Ben said, one option would be Gravekeepers, they are a fun deck to play, still Tier 2 when built properly and can be awkward for your opponent. One small problem though is that it can be difficult to find Royal Tributes, and they are necessary for the deck, they are the best card in the deck without a doubt, and it's not really worth running the deck without them.

Another choice you could look at would be Crystal Beasts, a lot of people have written them off now, but since more and more rank 4 xyz monsters are coming out they can actually get the materials on the field extremely easily, if you check my profile one of my questions was about my Crystal Beast deck so you could find the profile there.

Gladiator Beasts can also be a great idea, but there is a very specific build you have to follow to make them competitive in this current format, you literally have to strip out everything inconsistent, so no Test Tigers, only 10 monsters and as much draw power as you can possibly fit in.

So there's 3 ideas, all of which are pretty cheap and easy to make. Good luck with the deck building.

    question:

What can i do for my 13th birthday?
It's my 13th birthday soon and i dont know what there would probably be and 4-5 girls and i was thinking limo, shopping (im really into fashion so i was gonna help choose a really nice outfit for all of them), i could do their make-up, meal, sleepover. but my mum said it wouldn't work so suggestions please. thanks xx

    answer:

    Superstar Party
Thirteen-year-olds are usually very up to date with the latest music, which would make a superstar party a very suitable and affordable theme. Specify in the invitations that each child should dress as a pop idol. Use a lot of glitter in the invitations and overall decoration. If you own a gaming console with microphones, let the children compete against each other, with the condition that they have to impersonate the idol they are representing while singing (even though the song was not originally by that artist). This will cause a lot of laughs. If you don't own a console, just play the songs on your home sound system and appoint a panel of judges to "evaluate" everybody's performance with a score. During a superstar party you can also let the children play quiz games to test their knowledge about pop stars and actors. A superstar party doesn't need to be expensive to be fun.

    "Survivor" Camping
Thirteen-year-old boys are still quite active and will love camping in your back yard. Make this interesting by applying a "Survivor" theme. Supply the boys with basic, inexpensive equipment to build their own shelter, such as ropes, tarp and a hammer. Alternatively, just let them set up tents in the backyard and hold a competition to see which team has its tent standing first. Hold a survivor quiz, and let them find solutions to specific wilderness survival scenarios. Websites such as Discovery and BC Adventure contain interesting facts from which you can derive questions for your quiz. Hold a barbecue to suit the theme, and teach the boys how to grill their own meat, while keeping a watchful eye. Another interesting food to serve is stick bread -- you prepare the dough beforehand, and let the children then each bake their own bread by wrapping it around a stick and holding it over the fire.

    Funky Makeover Party
Girls love makeovers, and at 13 years many of them like to act all "grown up." Hold an affordable and fun makeover party for your 13 year old by letting the girls do the makeovers themselves. Specify on the invitations that each girl should bring a wacky dress, funky makeup and weird accessories. At the party, pair them up and let each girl get into her own dress the way her partner instructs (she could wear it as a top, a headdress or anything that is funky). Her partner must then do a complete makeover, using the accessories and makeup she brought. Then hold a judging contest and give small awards to the funniest, funkiest and wackiest combinations.

    Magic Trick Party
A magic trick party can be appealing to both boys and girls and doesn't need to be expensive. All you will need are a couple decks of playing cards, coins, pieces of string and handkerchiefs. Print off a few magic tricks that are easy to perform from websites such as Classic Magic, Kidzone and Good Tricks (see Resources). Hand each child a trick to familiarize himself with, and provide the materials needed for the trick. Give the children some time to practice, and then pass a "magic hat" around. As soon as the magic hat reaches a child, he has to wear it and perform his magic trick. Use black, red and white balloons, table cloths and napkins to suit the card playing theme. As soon as the magic tricks are over, teach the children some card games to play.

    question:

    Replacing a roof on a 1200sq home?
I want my roof replaced with architectural shingles. What would be an estimate for living in Memphis TN to tear off two layers of an old roof and haul away while replacing with architectural shingles? How many estimates should I get?

    answer:

You should get a few estimates. And you don't necessarily want the cheapest one.

There are a number of things they will consider.
    Square footage
Obstacles such as Chimneys, pipes, valleys, and separate roof sections. All Obstacles add extra work that has to be handled one at a time.
Condition of the roof deck: you are removing two layers of roofing, Is anything under that usable?

    Products:
Underlayment options , should cover the entire roof:
    1) roofing felt - This is the classic and cheap material that all roofing companies like to use
    2) Storm and Ice shield - Required at all edges of a roof in northern states. Provides a weather proof surface and if you put a nail through it, it will seal the nail. It is more or less affordable, but costs more and takes more labor to install. Covering your roof in this will almost guarantee a leak free roof, if everything else is more or less installed correct.

    Shingles:
They have different features and protections. And their instructions vary. A shingle with a high wind speed warranty may require a larger amount of nails in each shingle than what installer are use to pounding in. It takes longer to put in 6 nails per shingle than the required minimum of 3 nails.

So you need to not only get an estimate, but also go through all of the product options that you are looking at with the representative. And find out and discuss the condition of the roof deck.

    question:

What is a good skateboard setup?
I've got my deck, and I had some crappy world industries trucks that wouldn't even turn so I'm getting some trucks and wheels, possibly bearings.

What are some good brands for street skating? And hopefully on the less expensive side please, as I don't have more than probably for my trucks and wheels. Any suggestions? I would like some smaller wheels too (50-52mm)

    answer:

Well if you got your deck already thats good..

For Trucks i would recommend these brands they are all good quality:: Venture , Royals , Independents & Destructo..

Ventures got style , they are good quality material, and are pretty light in weight...
Royals will last you a long time, the axel's will probably never bend .. Independents are heavy duty, they will last you a very long time.... Independent have been around a long time for obvious reasons they really good qualitt .
Destructo a underdog truck brand yet they are really good to. Some of the lightest in weight.

For wheels in my opinion the top 4 brands are::: Bones , Autobahn , Ricta , and spitfire..

So any of those brands to choose from would be a wise choice. I like size 51mm .Good size for street skaTing.

For Bearings i would say get the Bones reds. Really good bearings and affordable to. .etc.

Pair of Trucks some where around - 50

    Wheels about $ 35

    Bearings

    question:

    Installing an Inground Pool?
Does anyone know how much it would cost to install an in ground pool in the Greater Boston Area? What About an above ground pool?

    answer:

Above ground pools usually come in a box and require assembly at home, but are generally pretty affordable and most only cost a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars.

Inground pools vary widely, based not only on the size of the pool, but the material (fiberglass pre-formed pool set in a hole, or concrete poured shell, etc.), the type and size of the deck surrounding the pool, potential upgrades like a hot tub, heated pool (or more expensive yet, solar heated pool), tile accents, etc. I've seen inground pool packages run anywhere from about ,000 to almost 0,000!

I live in Florida and I'm not sure how prices vary between our locations but I know that a bigger issue is what exactly you'll want your pool to include.

    question:

What's the best skateboard for first time skateboarding?
I've become really into skateboarding lately and I'm looking on eBay Australia and I don't know what do buy/look at. please help :)
How do I know what size I need? I'm not really understanding the sizes/widths.
    Also what about this board?
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/COMPLETE-31-CANADIAN-MAPLE-DECK-SKATEBOARD-54mm-wheels-/170761894331?pt=AU_Skateboarding&hash=item27c233b9bb#ht_5220wt_1139

    answer:

Good for you ..skateboarding is fun..
Like Nick said it does really not matter what type of board you get...
As long as you buy any name brand board its all good..
Even a blank deck would be a good board to begin skateboarding...As long as its good wood material.. These blanks are pretty good & affordable..
But name brands are always better but of course more expensive. so for a beginner it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a blank just to learn on it.. But if you decide to go with a name brand i recommend Girl skateboards & chocolate boards.. Plan b is good to..

Basically when it comes down to sizes it has to do with mainly the width of the board..
Theres 7.5" or seven inches & a half... These are the narrow boards.. These boards are pretty good for people with small shoe size.. But,not in all cases cause i wear 10" in shoe size & this size worked well for me for many years. One thing for you is that its easier for you to flip these small boards than trying to flip more wider boards.. Though these narrow decks tend to break a liitle easier than wider boards..
Another size is 7.75" a little more wider.. Pretty much similar ti 7.5" boards.. Those are good..
Then 8" boards in width are another choice..these boards are a little harder to flip .. But don't really snap or break that easily.. .Also with 8" boards you have more footing space so you land tricks easier... Then there is wider boards than 8" ..In my opinion those boards are to much... Can't really comment on them.. Cause never skated one before.

So in the end it just depends what you feel more comfortable with... What ever width you choose you will eventually get use to it& adapt to it..

I saw your link & i can say that its a pretty good choice.. Canadian maple wood is the best material in wood for a board.. Its strong & will not break easily.. Though make sure its what it is cause theres alot imitation outhere... The wheels 54" are fine.. So pretty much it looks good... .

    question:

Which skateboard deck should i buy?
I want a durable board due to my weight which is 240lbs and I am 6 feet tall and my shoe size is 12 in mens. I also want fast bearings so I don't have to pedal every 3 seconds. I don't want a cruiser I actually want to do tricks

    answer:

The most heavy duty durable skateboard deck brands that i would recommend are these: Deathwish , Baker ,Foundation ,Real ,and Creature boards i guess.. But the first 4 forsure are built to last.. They the brand makers use real good quality wood materail to built there boards...
Heard so many positive feedback about there durability.etc
Oh yeah the size of board matters to. mostly the width..
The wider the board the more material so they will last longer & be harder to break than a narrow board. You also get more footing space to land tricks easier.. The only thing they slightly weight a little more but not much. And in your case do to your stature get a wide board would work good.. Get like a 8.5" or 8.75" if you feel those are to wide than you can try the 8.25" but dont get anything more narrow than 8.25" .. It would be narrow at least for you..etc

Some of the best bearing are made by Bones and Black Panthers.
They each have different versions of the bearings they sale.. Bones makes these ceramic material type bearings ,they fast but are too expensive. And not recommended for skating doing trick wise.. Not good on impact.. So get there more affordable version Bones reds regular. They are good, pretty fast and affordable..etc

    question:

Can anyone suggest sustainable and affordable material(s)?
I am a student-designer who is presently working on a series of tables. What I am looking for is a material that can be cut easily and is sustainable/environmentally friendly, durable, and affordable. I live in New York City and therefore would prefer it to be accesible either directly (I'd be glad to pick it up!) or through (quick!) delivery. Also, though I am open to anything from plastics, resins, bamboo, compressed paper, etc., I need something that can come in "sheet/ply" form (as in a tabletop.)

I'm open to everything, I just want it to be as affordable as possible and to look really nice. I do realize I haven't been too specific -- I feel as though that will allow for the most potentially hopeful answers. THANK YOU!

    answer:

There is a recycled decking material made from compressed saw dust and resins. It's brown like cardboard...and Its looks are those of an...oh... artificial decking material. It's waterproof and very durable. It is not load bearing however (it could only be your table top, or a bench seat or the like.) Basically these would be eco-friendly planks of wood. I don't know what they call it, but it's been turning up more and more. Any lumber yard/mega hardware store would have it. I know I've seen Home Depot in Manhattan.

    question:

What's the best way to coat or paint solid objects (i.e. aluminum, metal, etc)?
Is there a method of painting or coating objects with any kind of decorative design wanted?

    answer:

5 of the most popular ways to coat an object are:
    1. Powder Coating - applied as a free-flowing, dry powder and cured to form a "skin".
    2. Liquid Coating (i.e. painting) - similar to powder coating only that it requires a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form.
    3. Lamination - the coating of objects with thin laminating materials by gluing them with heat and/or pressure, usually with an adhesive.
    4. Anodization - increasing the thickness of the natural layer on the surface of metals to allow for absorption of coating/sealing.
    5. Hydrographic Water Dipping - technology that uses a specialized film printed with designs to decorate various components and materials through the medium of water.

Liquid Coating is typically the most affordable as well as the most readily available, but also the least durable.

Powder Coating is often considered the most durable, environment-friendly and versatile method of coating, but it requires a powder coating system, machine, etc.

The two main points of consideration for choosing between these methods would be your available resources (i.e. budget, machinery, know-how, etc.) and what is the item that you are trying to coat.

The main disadvantages of anodization are its limited color selection and the limitation of extended warranties.

Powder Coating offers the coating to be in any color and design, as well as wood grain. Powder Coating can be applicable to many various products such as:
    windows
    doors
    furniture
    elevator doors
    appliances
    decks, railings, ceilings
    rims
    household items
    etc

Keep in mind that for powder coating you either need a licensed applicator, or a powder coating machine.

    question:

    Why should we use chlorine?
I have a debate coming up in class and I need reasons why we should use chlorine in water treatment over not using it. Websites would be helpful!

    answer:

Because chlorine is used in the following things.......

Medicine More than 93 percent of
pharmaceuticals contain chlorine or are made
    with chlorine chemistry, from over-the-counter
medicines that treat minor aches and pains to
prescriptions that treat heart disease, cancer,
    AIDS and malaria.

Affordable housing Chlorine technology is used
to make polyvinyl chloride and vinyl for affordable
    and energy-efficient building materials: siding,
windows, flooring, decking, piping and more.
Vinyl is used in so many products, it ranks second
among all of the most widely used plastics in the
    world.

Fresh produce Chlorine chemistry is used in
86 percent of crop protection chemicals, including
those that combat post-harvest disease. That
allows farmers to raise, harvest and sell more
    fresh produce to consumers year-round.

TV Whether you have an older television set or
one of the latest plasma screens, all TVs have parts that are
    made using chlorine technology.

Paper Most kinds of paper toilet paper,
phone books, coffee filters and many others are
    processed with chlorine products.

Sports Chlorine is needed to make all kinds of
sports equipment like balls, rackets, surfboards,
helmets and basketball shoes, just to name a few.

    Computers From memory chips to
    microprocessors, computers rely on chlorine
    technology.

CDs and DVDs Whether it s video games, music,
data or movies, discs are made with polycarbonate, which is
    manufactured with chlorine.

Cars, trains, boats and airplanes All of these inventions
have parts that are manufactured using chlorine, from airbags
and safety belts to instrument panels and armrests.

Public Safety Chlorine is used in the production of
bulletproof vests, face shields, helmets and fire-resistant
    clothing.

    question:

    1x6 or 2x6 for a deck?
Most decks are 2x6 on top, I may be building a deck for a friend, he wants to keep it as affordable as possible, when is bad to use 1x6's. There must be several reasons to not use 1x6's as very few decks are built with 1x6's

    answer:

Look for 5/4 decking material which is 1 1/4 inch thick specifical made for decks. Max joist span 16". Costs less than 2x and will stand up better than 1x.

    question:

Please help build a good affordable yugioh deck?
Ok I plan on building a disaster dragon yugioh deck for tournaments, I need an extra deck as well. Will you please tell me some good websites that I can find the cards I need for under 0 and please don't say ebay. Any way here are the cards I need.
3 red eyes darkness metal dragon
    3 red eyes wyvern
    3 koa'ki meiru drago
    1prime material dragon
    1 light and darkness dragon
    2 delta flyer
    2 totem dragon
    1 exploder dragon
    1 dodger dragon
    1 future fusion
    2 gold sorcaphagus
    2 pot of duality
1 burial from a different dimension
    2 dragon's ravine
    1 monster reborn
    1 solemn warning
    1 solemn judgement
    1 mirror force
1 brionac, dragon of the ice barrier
    1 scrap dragon
    A couple of xyz monsters

    answer:

3 red eyes darkness metal dragon 10x3
    3 red eyes wyvern 7x3
    3 koa'ki meiru drago 5x3
    1prime material dragon 6
1 light and darkness dragon 1
    2 delta flyer 3x2
    2 totem dragon 15x2
    1 exploder dragon 5
    1 dodger dragon 3
    1 future fusion 4
    2 gold sorcaphagus 4x2
    2 pot of duality 9x2
    1 burial from a different dimension 1
    2 dragon's ravine 2x2
    1 monster reborn 2
    1 solemn warning 5
    1 solemn judgement 3
    1 mirror force 2
1 brionac, dragon of the ice barrier 32
    1 scrap dragon 30

Total 6 using Ebay and Strikezoneonline.com (taking the cheapest price of the two).

Good luck with your deck man:) I'd personally wait till Dragon's collide comes out as it comes with Darkness metal dragon as a common. Personally, I'd recommend running Thunder king Rai-Oh over the Totem dragons. The totem dragons aren't very good except for pulling LADD.

    question:

    which skateboard should i get?
My mum as given me sixty pounds, with this money i want to buy a decent skateboard and some skate shoes that will last as long as possible and if possible look good with my skinny jeans, i am looking to pay about 40 for the board or less but only if its good and about 20 to 30 for shoes but which ever way it must add to 60 no more.

i have looked at a couple of websites, native skate and skate hut, on both websites they have this death board http://www.nativeskatestore.co.uk/skateboards-c7/skateboard-decks-c23/death-skull-deck-7-5-p2008
this leave me with about 20 for shoes, as said i need some that are good but won't be destroyed quickly or if anyone has any other cheaper board suggestions i will be great full.

i do have some preferred brands but hey hoy you cant have everything-->
    shoes
    --------------
    DC shoes
    Vans
    Etnies
    Converse
    Emerica
    have to be size uk6

    Boards
    --------------
    Death
    Enuff
    Flip
    plan B (in my dreams)
width of about 7.5--7.75 and normal length 31" (i have small feet, well size 6)

my last Enuff board snapped a week after i got it so i don't trust their 20 boards but if someone can tell me it was just a one off and they are good i might get one

    thanks Guys and Girls

    >^.^<

    answer:

    Get a Flip board.
Or get a blank thats made out of good material .. Blanks are as good as brand decks sometimes.. Just depends what kinda blank.. I don't know if they sale the ones im talking about over there.
But "shuvit" makes pretty good sturdy blanks. They come in all colors, and you can make your own designs as a graphic.Thats what i do i use stencils and spray cans .. Etc.

But if you don't want to go with all that trouble just get any name brand that has a good deal.. Sometimes if you luck you can find a dope brand name board thats on sale for some reason, Even plan b boards.
Just gotta search and keep checking.

If you do find an affordable deck. Then that will leave you more money to buy some good shoes.

For shoes i would get either converse or Emericas. Anyways they look better with what you trying to match it with.. Plus they are really good ,popular quality name brand shoes.. Two of my favorite brands for shoes.

Www.skatewarehouse.com has good products and good deals sometimes.plus they ship international or worldwide.

    question:

    Best affordable wedding ring material?
My fiance and I are getting married in August, and we are starting to look into wedding rings. We bought a home last year and have spent quite a bit of money recently; also want to put a deck on our house Spring of '10, so spending hundreds and hundreds of $$ on rings right now does not really appeal to us. However, I do of course want these rings to be special and not just the most affordable ones we could find. . . I realize for example that sterling silver would be extremely affordable but I really do not want to go with that for our wedding rings! Would love to know peoples' opinions on Tungsten, Titanium, compared to white gold, etc. . . and pros and cons of each.
Thanks in advance for any help

    answer:

The most affordable of all the rings you just mentioned is tungsten. We got ours at http://www.tungstenworld.com/ and we are quite happy. The pros of tungsten is that it's really scratch resistant and will not bend. There is no way you can scratch it no matter how hard you try. The cons of tungsten is that it can't be re-sized. The ring size you buy is the size it stays. What's nice about the place we went to is that they offer lifetime sizing meaning they just replace the rings we bought with a new ring in the size we want.

Titanium is a nice ring and we almost bought titanium rings. The pros of titanium is that it is extremely light. The same exact ring in titanium is probably as light as a paper clip, that was nice. The cons of titanium is that they bend and scratch really easily. These scratches build up after a little time and make the ring look hideous.

White gold is different from the rest. My engagement ring is white gold. The pros about white gold is that it's amazingly shiny. I could stare at the polish of my engagement ring all day. The cons are that it scratches also. The side of my engagement ring that faces my palm is really scratched up so that is what made me rule out white gold completely.

    question:

Would this Yugioh deck even work?
Okay, I've posted Yugioh deck questions a few times and I am finalising what I would like to run next.

XYZ Chaos Gadgets. I know, it sounds weird but I think it could work.

    I'm thinking it would have...
    9 Gadgets
    Gorz
3 - Spirit Reaper (Just for some protection and if I can, poke with him if I can maintain field advantage)
    Sangan
    Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind
2-3 Thunder King Rai Ohs (I know it could conflict with Gadgets but I could get rid of TKRO with TT or something)
    2-3 Cyber Dragon
    2 - Effect Veiler
BLS - Envoy of the Beginning
    Chaos Sorcerer

Then just normal spells and traps (Duality, MST, Heavy Storm, maybe some Warnings if I can get them and maybe a starlight road).

I don't know if I can get Doomcalibur Knight. If I could, that'd be even better.

I know having the Gadgets in there seems a bit weird but I think they'd be good for thinning the deck and I could throw in some Ultimate Offering although it is risky now, they also provide good rank 4 XYZ material (Steelswarm Roach, Leviathan etc). Also, for me it would be fairly affordable (I already have BLS and 1 TKRO and I can get some more quite easily and I could probably pick up effect veiler).

    Opinions?

    answer:

You should only run 2 of each Gadget monster.
3 Spirit reaper is too much.
2 Thunder King Rai-Ohs are plenty though it might conflict with Pot of Duality.
    2 Cyber Dragons are plenty

I have a deck list for a better XYZ deck though it's not Chaos.

If money isn't an issue, this is my XYZ Rescue Rabbit Dino deck that's won consecutively at my locals without any losses so far.

    21 Monsters
    3x Rescue Rabbit
    3x Sabersaurus
    3x Kabazuls
    1x Sangan
3x Tour Guide from the Underworld
    2x Thunder King Rai-Oh
    2x Effect Veiler
    2x Genex Ally Birdman
    1x Gorz
    1x Neo-Spacian Grand Mole

    11 Spells
    1x Book of Moon
    1x Dark Hole
    1x Heavy Storm
    1x Mind Control
    1x Monster Reborn
    1x Pot of Avarice
    3x Forbidden Lance
    2x Mystical Space Typhoon

    question:

my condo on 3F has balcony low fence "EEEEE" with large space between, I am afraid of...?
...tenant's baby fall down from there
if a family wants to rent the condo, what shall I do to prevent any accident?

    answer:

First off, I think you're very smart to worry about this. Even though it should be the parents responsibility to make sure their child isn't in a dangerous situation unsupervised, you really need to protect yourself from liability by assuming they're going to be negligent in their care.

Now, I've never been in the situation you're in exactly, but here are some good suggestions for steps you can take that should help:

First, you can cover your railings with plastic garden fencing, shade cloth, or Plexiglas. Plexiglas is by far the most expensive choice, but is typically the most attractive. If you live in a windy area, the Plexiglas may offer the additional benefit of serving as a windbreak. You can secure any of these materials to the railings with screws or plastic cord ties. Avoid using staples; if they're dislodged, they present a serious choking hazard. Covering the railings is particularly important if the spindles run horizontally, as attaching something to the balcony side of the railing will also deter your child from climbing.

As an alternative to covering the railings, you can add additional spindles to make the openings narrower. This is a particularly appealing alternative if your railings are made of wood. Using additional spindles also tends to be attractive and can be more affordable than Plexiglas.

When you're protecting your railings, don't forget any external stairs. If you have stairs leading down from your balcony or deck, building a gate to match your existing railings is usually the best way to go. Be sure the gate's latching mechanism is childproof and/or out of reach.

Try to get in the habit of keeping any patio furniture away from the railings. Doing so will make it a little more difficult for your child to climb up and lean over the railing.

Finally, consider adding latches to any doors or windows leading out to your balcony or backyard. These latches should be installed well out of your child's reach.

    Good luck!!

    question:

new home construction ideas please help . ! ?
I would like some cool or neat ideas that may be slipping my mind or i havent thought of. , im building a 22 ft x 30ft cabin/house, im building it on a steep hill side above a small creek , my plan is dig a hole for the house along the edge of the very small cliff, so that 75% of the house is under ground level, so at the rear of the home you could almost waqlk straight on to the roof, with only a 4-12 pitch roof . 8 ft walls, and im going to poor a concrete pad to build on. i was just recently informed of radient heat- eater pipes in the concrete, thats aq great idea, but i need to make it affordable. , also im going to make the front of the house - the side facing/ hanging off the cliff mostly wondow by putting in 4 sliding glass doors , as that seems to be the cheapest way to get energy efficient glass. i do have a limited budget, but i still think for just a few extra bucks here and there could make all the difference and i can only do this once, is there anything you forgot when building your house? what cool things could i do? and how many sky lights is to many fo a house this size? what ever your thoughts may be, i need 2 bedrooms 1 bath and the front living space should span the whole 30 feet with no interuption justa kitchen counter.. thanks everyone, anyone who can give me an idea ill use or remind me of something i forgot will get the 10 points, and if it matters i have no labor cost and anything extra i do i need to be able to do myself or with help of a friend my whole budget is in between 20-30 thousand. the hollow/ land is all wooded . thanks.

    answer:

wooded area and sky lights don't mix well - at all

the limbs constantly drop and crack the lights leaking into the home - no matter the type, unless they are made of bullet proof glass, but that is you entire budget

my suggestion no sky lights - 1" deck roof for limb logs that are gonna fall - (we live with trees, really big ones)

the bath is the important part - fancy toilet, good sized sink and large tub with shower - the space allowed is small enough with out trying to stuff 2 people in a tiny bathroom at the same time - i would sacrifice living room space to the bath

does the property have any large rocks on it - use them to line the front of the exposed house - the rock maintains heat in the cool months and keeps it cooler in the summer - saves money on building material also

a whole glass front on a cabin doesn't give any privacy - unless you are totally secluded you might want to rethink that - plus its not very good at stopping bears - (did i mention we were remote)

the kitchen might want a woman to design it - i know the females in the family have way different ideas on this area then we males, they can't do their jobs efficiently if the space they are afforded to do it in is not to their liking - as mom says " i don't tell you what tools to use to fix a thing, you don't tell me how to run my kitchen, GET OUT unless you don't want any supper - she usually gets her way with that one - decide on the footage for the kitchen and let the woman fill it with the cabinets, stove, fridge, sinks, whatever........ that way you still get to eat, a budget of a 1/3 of the cost is typically spent on the kitchen - just to warn you

the bedrooms in a cabin can be sparse - you don't even need a closet, i would think, just the dresser would be fine

mom mentions a hall to hang wet outdoors clothing - easier on the womenfolk than to have it lying all around the furniture getting that wet also - even the tiniest hall is better than no hall

you can save with using the timber in your area - where we live its a trade - so many board feet of kiln dried wood for so many trees of this certain diameter for the mill is equal money / you might want to investigate that one

22 x 30 is the size of our living room - so to get a idea of how to stuff all that in that space is a little hard on my imagination

i am assuming that there are not going to be any electrical perks in the cabin - correct? no tv, computer, phone, so that will help with the wiring costs - cat cable is expensive - and the breaker box can be much smaller that way - a small wind jammer at 450 Kw could supply that size cabin at a cost of about 1800.00 dollars installed plus delivery - for some reason i don't think your electrical demands warrant a nacelle

i suppose if you pt the two br's in the rear under ground (10x10.5 = x2, 45 degree the entry door to in the room to save a little space at the end of the hall) then the kitchen and bath across the hall from each other (8x7 bath, 4x8 hall, 11x8 kitchen) then the living room across the front with what space is left (11x22) = might work

sounds fun - when do you start???

    question:

Can I sue the previous homeowner?
I bought a house last April (2010) from a very difficult seller. I had the house inspected, and was informed that the deck was built with wood to ground contact. Now even with the little construction experience I have, I knew that was not desirable, but I liked the house and the location, and the price was affordable. After purchasing the house, I realized that not only was the deck wood to ground, but it was built crooked, using improper support structure and shoddy building techniques and materials. After I decided to remove the deck altogether, and started pulling it apart, I noticed even more horrible and shoddy things. I have taken about half the deck apart thus far, and documented with photos and video all the things I've found. I do realize that had I taken more time to inspect the deck, I might have caught some of the initial visible defects, but the seller definitely did not inform me of all the issues with the deck. I would like to know if I have any legal recourse against the previous homeowner for not informing me of the defects. I would like him to pay for the removal of the rest of the deck, and the construction of a new deck. Not only do I have to waste my time and money taking it apart, and building a new one, but the deck was factored in to the price of the house so I paid for a piece of junk essentially. I mostly feel cheated, and the guy was quite a cheat himself I learned sometime later. Advice anyone?

    answer:

The previous owner didn't misrepresent anything with the house or deck. As such, you wouldn't really have any legal recourse to recover any money.

Depending on the condition of the original deck, you might have a case against the inspector who failed to detect any major problems.

    question:

    Is this dress lolita enough?
I dont really know which style lolita it would be, im guessing gothic. I dont have money so this is all i have, and im asking because at my school for the year im in we have a dress up/dance thing and i wanted to be like a doll, but not a typical rag doll type, so i was thinking dressing sort of lolita like if that makes sense? im not sure if this dress is lolita enough though, but i was gonna add like a petticoat underneath, a really big bow on my head, make a gothic lolita type bracelet, knee high socks and well im not sure what shoes that i could get that are right for this style and affordable :P

so any suggestions? i really need help and i dont want to dress up in like...a garbage bag or something :P

    question:

    Whis is a good laptop?
I want a good laptop for 650-700 USD.
its for college work so doesn't have to include more Graphics or anything fancy, but it has to be tough! (lol)

    answer:

The Dell Inspiron 14zis one such ultrabook, undeniably aimed at the budget segment.
    Build & Design
Straightaway, the family resemblance with the Inspiron laptopsis evident. The lid has the dual tone grey and silver finish. No Snap-on cover features here, however. The Inspiron 14z is an affordable ultrabook from Dell, offered alongside the premium XPS range. The design and the materials used are very similar to the Inspiron R Special Edition laptops. That s a good thing, because that takes out any apprehensions of budget-ness . The grey colour looks quite sophisticated.
Open the Inspiron 4z up, and the dark grey brushed metal tone continues around the keyboard. Similar silver finish on the bezel, but that is plain matte. On the left spine is a full-fledged Ethernet port, HDMI and USB. All three have very classy covers that do the job of hiding the ports well. On the right side is the optical drive, one of the few ultrabooks that actually offer this, another USB port and the card reader.
Voila! An optical drive! Laptop who?
The Inspiron 4z s keyboard is well spaced out, but when typing briskly, you will see a bit of downward flex towards the middleof the keyboard. However, that only happens when you press down too hard. There is no flex on the rest of the deck though. Apart from that, the key size, travel and response are very satisfactory.
All in all, we do appreciate the price tag of the Inspiron 14z and respect the fact that it is targeting a specific demographic of users with a specific ceiling to the spending budget. Within those boundaries, the Inspiron 14z has done a superb job making this feel rather well built. The looks don t betray the price tag, and that is the cherry on the cake.
    Features & Specifications
The spec sheet of the Inspiron 14z is all set for a good reading. This has the Ivy Bridge series Intel Core i5 3317U processor paired with 4GB of RAM. This processor clocks at 1.7GHz, with Turbo Boost taking it to 2.5GHz.
The side cooling vent is better placed for cooling, and it actually makes a lot of difference.
For the data storage needs, there is a 500GB hard drive on the Inspiron 14z, with a 32GB mSATA SSD for Rapid Boot and Fast Storage. We noticed that these features were not activated by default on the machine. Once turned on, there was a considerable performance boost visible even in basic tasks like opening a web browser.
The Inspiron 14z s 14-inch (1366 x 768 pixels) display is fairly decent in terms of the quality, but the non-reflective nature makes it very comfortable for usage. The display quality is quite okay, with enough crispness to make the text readable. With text on certain coloured backgrounds, edge noise would creep in though. Black colour depth and white saturation are average, while pixel stability score is the lowest among all ultrabooks. Despite these apparent shortcomings in the display tests, the HD video playback quality was very good. Admittedly, this screen doesn t have very good viewing angles, but clearly handled the fast motion scenes smoothly.
The slightly reflective nature of this display is a tad annoying, but good brightness levels take care of it.
The Inspiron 14z s keyboard deserves applause, because it is one of the better ones among affordable ultrabooks. There is no modification to the layout to fit in possible customized keys.Key size is quite appropriate as well. The keyboard response noise is a bit on the soft side, but in no way does that have any impact on the quality of usage and experience. The touchpad isfairly big, and thankfully has separate right and left click keys. Integrated keys tend to be uncomfortable to use for most people. However, the Inspiron 14z s touchpad is not of the quality we had expected it to be. We found that it was rather inconsistent in terms of response, and updating the drivers did not help. However, this could be a one off hardware issue, probably because this review unit would have been roughly used prior to it arriving in our test centre!
    Performance
The Inspiron 14z has does leave some more expensive rivals behind in certain tests. Let us give you an idea of some of the benchmark scores. In PC Mark Vantage, the Inspiron 14z scored 7404. Compare this to the 7465 scored by the Samsung Series 5 . Coming so close to one of the quickest ultrabooks in our tests is quite creditable. This machine is also quicker than the likes of the Toshiba Satellite U840 and the Sony Vaio T11 . Incidentally, with a PC Mark 7 score of 2966, the Inspiron 14z is quicker than the Samsung Series 5 that scores 2371 in the same test!
The brushed look of the keyboard deck looks classy, and the keyboard is equally good to use as well.

    question:

When did it become all about the clothing?
I saw a quick glimpse of the news, and they said how stylish clothing from nike and roots and so on is a must in today's youth. I think that's absolutely ridiculous. But, kids are WAY to focused on wearing expensive clothing, they don't know how to appreciate something with cost zip to none.

When I was in high school (2002-2006) I never cared. Sure, I got a bit jealous about some of the outfits people could wear or just pull off, but I wouldn't go home crying to mommy that I 'needed' it or else. I would just shrug it off. The clothing doesn't make the person, it just makes an impression. But if all you can do is leave an impression from your clothing, rather then your personality, you're not going to be anything special. Just material.

So, how did it come to be that kids/teenagers are so wrapped up in expensive gear?

Back when you were in school, was it a 'must' for you?
Kids, please don't even start with the "Well I don't, so don't say all teenagers do." Its so old.

    answer:

I graduated high school last year and I never really cared too much about clothes. Surely I wanted to look nice but I wasn't one of those girls all decked out in Hollister, American Eagle, and Abercrombie. I would get a lot of cute clothes from Old Navy where sales happen frequently and I bought my jeans from American Eagle because they were the only kind that really fit me that were also quality.

Kids see their favorite celebrities in expensive gear and they want to imitate the lifestyle with their parents' money. My parents never had hundreds of dollars to let me spend on clothes every few months. When I was sixteen, I got a job and learned the value of a dollar. Now I buy clothes and accessories that I love and feel comfortable in but are also quality as well as affordable because I save money in the long run.

I have too many bills to pay to even afford those types of clothes right now.

    question:

You up for planting onions in a 2x3 foot square foot garden on the cheap?
Warren Richardson s Box Garden Projects
How to jump start your Sq Ft2 Garden on the cheap.

With transfer onions planting season hard upon us since mid-January, the need to get an affordable Square Foot garden going, for us newbies, forced the design of a really cheapo start up system. I accumulated more than sufficient materials, (lots left over for another application) for under 25 bucks which is less than just the cost of 15 cinder blocks going into our 2 block high ft2 garden in the back yard.

One bag of potting soil can fit onto a starter Sq Ft box made by cutting up one 2"x 4"x 120" (10') long pressure treated decking board (2 each 24" and 2 each 36" boards Deck screwed together at their ends to make a frame suitable for laying on the ground and placed in a sunny area that gets no shade for at least 6 hours every day, year round.)

In the box laying on the ground one turns the dirt with a shovel, adz, hoe, etc. and then turns in a layer of shredded newspaper mixed thoroughly with a week s worth of garbage, some leaves and some dog (not cat) poo. Spray down this mess with bio-degradable dish soap and wet it all down somewhat. Lay the bag of potting soil just next to the sq ft gardening box. Cut open the organic potting soil bag with a knife or box cutter and pour that into the managed soil inside sq. ft. box. Pitchfork the mess underneath up into the potting soil somewhat - enough to get the composting materials a head start and the smell of the organic material into the ground to attract worms. Water lightly and poke holes for the onions at the recommended spacing intervals recommended by the literature for this form of gardening.

Plant seeds or set sprout transfers in the standard sq ft style. Remember to put identification sticks next to each type of onion set; water lightly 2 - 3 times a week and jump back. Voila, veggies on the cheap!
We have three different onions sets and plan to leave room adjacent to each type to plant additional sets every 3 -4 weeks so that we can harvest fresh organic onions on a continuous basis.
Inspiration for this simple sort of Sq. Foot Garden came from reviewing this form of gardening in the how-to materials at http://www.garden.org/
    God Bless you,
Warren Richardson, a 912 super senior
P.S., What is your favorite el cheapo veggie garden trick?

    answer:

Yeah, I'm going down to Lowe's to get a couple pressure treated boards and make my first sq ft garden too. Or as soon as the ice melts here abouts. It's not that I can't drive on black ice. It's the danger from all the locals who think they should drive like it's a sunny day in California in their good ole boy pickups when it's slicker than owl snot. Know whut uh mean Vernon?
Hey! I have a couple old tires to build a potato mound, too. Thanks for the tip!

    question:

    Persuasive essay: "Go Green"?
i am doing a persuasive essay for my english class and i would like your help with reasons to convince someone to go green.
plz give me a list of things if possible.
    your help is gratefully appreciated.
    thank you.

    answer:

Everyone's talking about eco-friendly home updates, but what's in it for you? Here are 10 reasons to take the plunge into a greener lifestyle:

    1. YOU'LL INCREASE YOUR HOMES VALUE

There's a growing buzz among buyers about eco-friendly homes. And what's not to like: Green homes use sustainable materials that are better for the environment, and have lower utility bills and healthful air.

That means you'll boost your home's value with big and small eco-friendly projects. So whether you splurge on solar panels or buy an affordable water-saving shower and toilet, you'll have that much-needed edge with buyers when you sell.

    2. THE ENERGY SAVINGS WILL ADD UP
The U.S Department of Energy believes if current buildings were green-improved, the country would use billion less in energy per year. That's not chump change!

You can get your piece of the discounts with your own energy-efficient updates. You'll be surprised at the amount of money you'll save with small updates, like installing tightly sealing insulation.

And while some green updates are more expensive, energy-savers can be cheaper than the power-hogging alternatives. For instance, many homes are built with HVAC systems that are too large. A properly sized system will be cheaper upfront and will save energy later.

    3. YOU'LL SAVE MONEY ON YOUR WATER BILL,TOO

Green updates that reduce the amount of water it takes to run a home will certainly save you money, and they can be especially important in states with water-use restrictions such as California, Arizona and Nevada.

Inside the house, Energy Star appliances and water-saving plumbing systems will drastically cut water usage. For instance, toilets built before 1982 use a whopping 5 to 7 gallons of water per flush. Replace the water-guzzler with a high-efficiency model that uses fewer than 1.3 gallons per flush and you'll see almost instant savings.

You can also save money in the yard with a low-flow sprinkler or irrigation system. Less agua can actually help grass by preventing over watering and minimizing weed growth. Your wallet will thank you, and you can still have the greenest lawn on the block.

    4. GREEN HOMES ARE DURABLE

Eco-friendly homes might use recycled products, but that doesn't mean they'll wear out sooner. Recycled-content decking, which is made from recycled plastic and wood fibers, can last five times longer than traditional wood decking, and it never needs to be treated or painted.

Durable materials mean you'll spend less time and money maintaining your property; you'll get more money in your pocket when you decide to sell.

    5. YOU'LL BREATHE BETTER AIR

You know that new car -- or new home -- smell? That's the sweet smell of toxins from building materials slowly seeping out. The air inside a conventional new home can be 10 times more polluted than outdoor air.

Green homes have better indoor air quality than other brand-new and pre-owned homes, making the indoors physically healthier and more comfortable for homeowners. For example, using paints, cleaners and adhesives low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) reduces exposure to formaldehyde, a known carcinogen. With a few green updates, you can breathe easier knowing that your home's air is clean.

    6. YOU'LL GET MORE DONE

That's right: Cleaner air can help you be more productive. A U.S. Department of Energy study found that poor indoor air quality not only affects your health, it also affects your brain.

The workplace study found that people with better air quality got more done and took fewer sick days. So go green and watch your to-do list dwindle.

    7. YOUR PROJECT WILL CREATE LESS CONSTRUCTION WASTE

A huge trash bin that's constantly full is a common fixture at a construction site. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that building waste accounts for about 20 percent of all trash in landfills or about 136 million tons per year. But it doesn't have to be that way. About 85 percent to 90 percent of those materials can be recycled.

Green remodeling and building focus on reducing the waste created during the project and reusing materials whenever possible. Don't ditch the wood from that old barn door; use it as a funky coffee table. Reusing materials will lower your costs, and give your home some personality. If you really can't use something, find a recycled goods company that can. Your old stuff won't help anyone if it's jammed into a landfill.

    8. GREEN HOMES PRESERVE THEIR SURROUNDINGS

Building green involves more than just putting some solar panels on your rooftop. An eco-friendly home aims to have the smallest possible impact on its environment.

Green building means working with the land rather than against it. Forget clear-cutting the entire lot; take down only the trees and bushes that would interfere with construction. The remaining trees can help cool the house in the summer and act as a windbreak in the winter.

    question:

why dont dvds play and record?
    why dony DVD play

    answer:

Commercial DVDs are pressed (data impressed into the plastic, then covered with reflective then protective material), so are not erasable/rewritable like a videocassette (purely magnetic) is. DVD-R/+r discs dye is write once.

Players play only because the chipset and laser deck is cheaper to play only.

For a VCR, the mechanism is easily adapted for play/record.

In the larger scheme of things, the VHS machine was made from its inception as a recorder/player, and in its lifetime, was made and sold as such, with the VHS player being the rarity.

DVD, from its inception, was a player only, used to play commercial discs, and it was on the market as a player for 5 or 6 years before DVD recorders hit the market, with the invention of writable DVD media and practically affordable MPEG encoders.

    question:

Does anyone know about radios on a '97 chevy truck?
I want a new stereo in my truck and I would like to know what kind of stereo (like from best buy or circuit city..etc, i'm not looking to spend over 100 dollars on the stereo..cause the rest will go to installation and w/e else needs to be done) but i would like to know what kind of stereo i can use in my truck it's a 1997 chevy silverado 1500 4wheel drive single cab here's an example..my truck looks just like this http://www.carstereoremoval.com/htm/stereoremovalChevroletPickUp95_99P.htm .. PLEASE AND THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. I just need to know what I have to do to get a new stereo.

    answer:

You'll need to purchase a single din deck. Here's a run down of the costs at Best Buy.

    Deck Installation - .99
    Mounting Kit - .99
    Wiring Harness - .99
    Antenna Adapter - .99
    Materials Fee - .00

They have several decks that will work for your vehicle that are going to be affordable.

    JVC KD-G140
    Kenwood KDC-138
    Kenwood DEH-2000MP 0

I personally have always stuck with Kenwood and never had an issue, but the more I play around with Pioneer I become a pretty big fan. Pioneer gives you a more detailed built in equalizer which allows you to control the highs and lows better. I hope this run down helps. Best Buy does have more than the three decks I listed too. Just wasn't going to list every single deck available. Also, you might want to look and see which decks have the option of adding satellite radio, HD radio, bluetooth, and iPod functionality. Head into Best Buy and ask them questions. They should be able to help you out. At least with the information I gave you, you'll have a pretty good understanding when you go in.
